The Itty Bitty Mosquito Committee is a neighbor-run nonprofit based in Washington, DC. We keep things simple, including this page. It explains what information we collect when you browse this website or subscribe to our newsletter, how we use it, and what you should know about the mosquito control guidance we publish.
If you use the Itty Bitty Portal, our member tool for registering your home and logging traps, your use of the Portal is governed by the Portal’s own Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, which cover it in much more detail. This page explains the parts that apply to the public website: our guides, our newsletter, and how this site is hosted. If anything here appears to conflict with the Portal documents, the Portal documents control for your use of the Portal.
Privacy Policy
What we collect
Information you give us. If you subscribe to our newsletter or contact us, we collect what you provide, usually your name and email address.
Information collected automatically. When you browse the site, we collect basic analytics, such as your browser type, the pages you visit, and general location (usually your city or region). This helps us understand which resources neighbors find useful. Our analytics are cookieless and aggregate: we do not build a profile of you, we cannot identify you individually, and we do not track you across other websites.
How we use it
We use your information to send you the emails you signed up for, respond when you reach out, and improve the site. That’s it. We do not sell your personal information, and we never will.
Who we share it with
We share information only with a small number of vendors that help us run this site, such as our website hosting and email delivery providers. They handle your information only on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. We may also disclose information if we reasonably believe disclosure is required by law, court order, or other legal process.
Cookies and embedded content
This site does not set cookies. A couple of pages include content from other services: our community kickoff video is embedded from YouTube in privacy-enhanced mode, which sets nothing unless you press play, and our newsletter form submits to Brevo, our email provider, whose own privacy policy applies once you land on their page. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and this site will still work if you block them.
Your choices
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing works immediately. If you’d like to see, correct, or delete the information we have about you, email us at hello@ittybittymosquitocommittee.org and we’ll take care of it.
Children
This website is not directed at children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we’ll delete it. The Itty Bitty Portal likewise is intended for adults and requires users to be at least 18 to create an account.
Changes to this policy
If we update this page, we’ll post the new version here with a new effective date. We won’t do anything sneaky in the meantime.

We publish guides, FAQs, and resources to help neighbors control mosquitoes without spraying. Please keep the following in mind when using them.
This is educational information, not professional advice. We are not a professional pest control or public health service, and our content is not a substitute for advice from a licensed pest control professional, a public health official, a physician, or a veterinarian. Every yard and block is different, and we cannot guarantee mosquito reduction, pest elimination, or any health outcome.
Always follow the product label. Some of the methods we describe involve EPA-registered products such as Bti. Under federal law, the product label is legally binding. Read it and follow it, even where our guidance is more general.
For health concerns, talk to a professional. If you have questions about mosquito-borne illness, contact your medical provider or your local department of health. We share information about disease surveillance for context, not diagnosis.
Community discounts are pass-throughs. When we share vendor discounts with neighbors, we earn nothing from your purchase. No commissions, no referral fees, no kickbacks. Vendors have occasionally provided us free product to test, which never obligates us to recommend it. We recommend what works.
